Laboratory Waste
Hazardous Waste Management for Laboratories
Simply Waste Consultants supports research facilities, universities, healthcare laboratories, and QC departments across England, Scotland, and Wales. From mixed chemical waste to unknown samples, we provide compliant disposal solutions that keep laboratories operating safely and legally.
Laboratory Waste Streams We Handle
Laboratory environments generate highly diverse waste requiring expert classification. Our service manages:
Solvents (halogenated and non-halogenated)
Acids and alkalis
Reagents and standards
Mixed or unknown chemicals
Contaminated glassware and consumables
Expired chemicals and reference materials
Analytical waste and extracts
Classification and Compliance Support
Laboratory waste often involves unknowns, mixtures, and small quantities of diverse materials. Our experienced team work with lab managers, listing and classifying each waste stream accurately—including composition analysis for unknowns—ensuring accurate classification of mixed waste streams common in research settings.
We provide complete compliance support including:
Hazardous Waste Consignment Notes
Mixed waste classification protocols
EWC and HP code assignment
Supply of appropriate waste containers
Staff training on segregation requirements
Collection and Transport
We arrange regular scheduled collections through our network of licensed, ADR-compliant hauliers, tailored to laboratory waste generation patterns and preventing accumulation that compromises safety. Collections operate across England, Scotland, and Wales with hauliers experienced in handling diverse laboratory chemicals.
Our collection capability ranges from single drum uplifts to full articulated loads. We handle small-scale collections of individual 205-litre drums, intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), and palletised waste. For larger volumes, we arrange multi-pallet collections up to 24 pallets per load, plus bulk tanker services for liquid laboratory waste including solvents, acids, and alkalis. We supply appropriate segregated waste containers including solvent bottles, acid carboys, and multi-compartment laboratory waste bins. Regular fortnightly or monthly collections can be established to prevent waste accumulation, with additional ad-hoc uplifts available for large clear-outs and facility closures.
