Hazardous Waste Management for the Electrical Sector

Simply Waste Consultants provides specialist hazardous waste solutions for electrical contractors, equipment recyclers, and electronics manufacturers across England, Scotland, and Wales. Electrical waste spans mercury-bearing lamps, batteries, and oil-filled equipment—we ensure every stream is classified, documented, and disposed of in full compliance.

Electrical Waste Streams We Handle

Electrical operations generate waste with significant hazard properties requiring careful handling. Our service covers:

  • Fluorescent tubes and discharge lamps (mercury)

  • Lead-acid and lithium batteries

  • PCB-containing capacitors and transformers

  • Transformer and switchgear oils

  • Electrical cabling and components

  • WEEE and end-of-life equipment

  • Contaminated packaging and absorbents

Classification and Compliance Support

Electrical waste classification hinges on identifying hazardous components—mercury, PCBs, and heavy metals all trigger specific controls. Misidentifying a lamp, battery, or oil-filled unit can delay collections and breach permits. Our experienced team list and classify each waste stream accurately, ensuring correct coding and segregation.

We manage all regulatory requirements including:

  • Hazardous Waste Consignment Notes

  • EWC and HP code assignment

  • WEEE evidence and documentation

  • UN packaging and labelling

  • Notifications to Environment Agency, SEPA, and NRW

Collection and Transport

We arrange nationwide collection through our network of licensed, ADR-compliant hauliers, with containers suited to lamps, batteries, and oil-filled equipment. Collections operate across England, Scotland, and Wales on schedules that match your project and maintenance cycles.

Our collection capability ranges from single drum uplifts to full articulated loads. We handle individual 205-litre drums, intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), and palletised waste, plus multi-pallet collections up to 24 pallets per load. Bulk tanker services are available for transformer and insulating oils.

We supply dedicated containers including lamp tubes, battery boxes, and oil drum stores, with regular scheduled or ad-hoc uplifts to suit ongoing works and site clearances.
